It might be that you have a trans leak. I had one in my civic for probably 6 months, and whenever it got low on fluid it would pop out of 5th gear.

Nope. Fluid level is fine. Thanks for making me recheck though.

My gear shift pops out when de-accelerating from high RPM's on my 94' GSR. It's got 190K miles on it. I can deal with it and don't plan to get it fixed. I'd be more concerned with lower miles and if it was happening while accelerating. Good-luck.

    Hey guys,

My trans will "pop" out of 5th gear almost 90% of the time when I am even slightly in the throttle. I can prevent it from occuring if I put pressure on the shifter, but I can actually feel the car attempting to push it back into neutral, if I let go, it will pop out. It seems to have started after my most recent clutch install (Clutchmasters Stage 4). However, at that time I also installed the ES tranny bushings. Trans fluid was replaced about 8k ago with Redline MTL. The car has 68K on it.

My normal mechanic seems to think it could be the ES bushings. Others say the throw out bearing (replaced w/clutch). Still others think syncros (with only 68k???). NONE of the other gears have shown signs of this.

    Anybody else run into this?

My '94 GSR does it only in 4th gear. I've heard "clutch" and "bent forks" from 2 different people.

I'll be changing the clutch soon, so I'll rule that out.

    We'll see.....
